Would you join a live session on using AI as your photography assistant?

I’m thinking of putting together a live online talk and demo for photographers who are curious about AI, but not necessarily interested in using it to generate images.

This would be about something much more practical.

I want to show how AI can help with the bits of photography that often get in the way of actually taking pictures: planning trips, organising kit, managing schedules, keeping track of ideas, reviewing what worked, and making better decisions afterwards.

The session would look at how an AI photography assistant could help with things like:

• Planning a photography trip or project

• Researching locations, timing and possible shot ideas

• Building kit lists and schedules

• Producing a simple trip brief for yourself or a group

• Writing a useful project report afterwards

• Sorting through images and spotting the likely “keepers”

• Getting constructive suggestions for edits

• Preparing stronger images for club competitions or critique sessions

This is not about replacing the photographer’s eye. It is not about letting AI make the creative decisions for you.

It is about using AI as a practical assistant, so you can spend less time wrestling with the admin and more time concentrating on the photography.

I’m also interested in exploring how AI can help photographers review their images more clearly. For example, it can help spot distractions, suggest crops, identify stronger compositions, and offer useful editing ideas before you submit an image to a club competition or share it publicly.

We will do an online demo of using this to get editing tips for a random image and exact instructions to follow on a popular photo editing software package.

It will not guarantee a winning image, of course. No tool can do that. But it might help you see your own work with a bit more structure and objectivity.

So I’m considering running this as a live online session, with practical examples and demonstrations rather than theory. If this sounds useful, please let me know. I’m gathering names of people who might be interested in taking part, either in the first session or potentially in some follow-up workshops. Additionally, I am creating a PDF ebook outlining the essential steps for using AI effectively, including example prompts and recommended tools. This ebook will be accessible for free to anyone who participates in an online session.
